In middle school, I moved to Yorktown, Virginia from Fort Fairfield, Maine. It was very difficult for me to adjust to a new school and new people. I did, however, meet my two forever best friends, Taralyn Brown and Kelly Lyn Griffin, who to this day are still my best friends. I also played on the basketball and softball team. This was a great way to meet people and learn to be part of a team .
I spent the first 11 years of my teaching career as a Latin teacher in Virginia and then in Knoxville. While I was teaching in Virginia, one of the librarians whom I taught with offered to help me with a class WebQuest project. She went well beyond my expectations of a librarian, and what their role was with classes in the library. So I decided I wanted to go back to school and get my degree in Library and Information Science.
I've been married for 8 years and have a 6 year old son, Alexander. I also enjoy running, reading, and watching sports.
