LOUDON COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT
600 RAYDER AVENUE
LOUDON, TN 37774
Effective in 2010, rising seventh graders in the State of Tennessee began to follow the new vaccination requirements. The Tennessee Department of Health now requires students entering seventh grade to have two additional vaccinations. You will need to provide an updated shot record to the school where your child is enrolled once the vaccines are obtained.
It is required that they get a TDaP and it is also required that they get a second Varicella. TDaP is a vaccination for tetanus, diphtheria and whooping cough. Varicella is the chicken pox vaccination.
Effective July 1, 2010, a provider shall certify adequate immunization against Varicella for any child entering Kindergarten or 7th grade, and for new enrollees into any school.
Effective October 1, 2010, a provider shall certify continued adequate immunization against Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis (TDaP) for any child entering the 7th grade (or, in the case of students in ungraded classrooms, any child age 13).
If you have any questions please feel free to call me at the health department or your school nurse.
